Chiefs-Commanders inactive players: Kansas City down 2 offensive starters, Washington makes late special teams addition
See who’s in and who’s out for Kansas City’s MNF matchup against the Commanders.
The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the Washington Commanders in an interconference primetime showdown.
Kansas City is in great health overall, but will be down two starters along its offensive line on Monday night. As for the Commanders, they already put star defensive end Dorance Armstrong on injured reserve this past week, and will be down a key special teams player in tonight’s matchup. Let’s examine both team’s inactive players lists.
Commanders inactive players
- QB Jayden Daniels
- TE Colston Yankoff
- K Matt Gay
- CB Noah Igbinoghene
- LB Ale Kaho
- OT Trent Scott
- OT George Fant
Observations:
- Daniels was ruled out early last week with a hamstring injury. Veteran Marcus Mariota gets the start in his place.
- Gay popped up on the Commanders’ injury report on Saturday with a back injury and will not play on Monday night. Subbing in for him is Matthew Wright, who appeared in two games with the Chiefs last season.
- Starting defensive tackle Daron Payne was questionable with a toe injury, but is active and will give it a go.
Chiefs inactive players
- OL Josh Simmons
- OL Trey Smith
- CB Kristian Fulton
- RB Elijah Mitchell
- TE Jared Wiley
- WR Jalen Royals
- DE Malik Herring
Observations:
- Simmons will miss his third consecutive game due to a personal family matter. Jaylon Moore will once again start in his place.
- No surprise with Smith being inactive as he was listed as doubtful for this game after not practicing all week with a back injury. Mike Caliendo will get the start at right guard.
- Fulton continues to be a healthy scratch as rookie CB Nohl Williams has strongly emerged over the past month.
- Royals is a healthy scratch after participating in the last three games, mostly on special teams.
