Chiefs trending to be without defensive difference-maker for second consecutive week in Week 14 vs. Texans
Chris Roland-Wallace’s continued absence for the Chiefs could be back-breaking in Week 14 vs. the Texans.
The Kansas City Chiefs released their second injury report ahead of Week 14 vs. the Houston Texans.
After three players were non-participants in Wednesday’s practice, which was dubbed the best no-helmet practice of Steve Spagnuolo’s seven seasons in Kansas City, the Chiefs did not register an improved practice status on their injury report. While there’s still one day left for things to change, this team is trending toward being without multiple starting offensive linemen and a key difference-maker on the defensive side of the ball.
Here’s where things stand for the Chiefs’ injury situation as of Thursday.
Chiefs’ Thursday injury report for Week 14
| Player | Injury | Weds./Thurs./Fri. |
|---|---|---|
| WR Rashee Rice | Hamstring | FP/FP |
| QB Patrick Mahomes | Knee | FP/FP |
| RB Isiah Pacheco | Knee | FP/FP |
| RG Trey Smith | Ankle / Back | DNP/DNP |
| RT Jawaan Taylor | Knee / Triceps | DNP/DNP |
| TE Noah Gray | Concussion / Shoulder | FP/FP |
| DB Chris Roland-Wallace | Back | DNP/DNP |
| S Bryan Cook | Ankle | FP/FP |
| WR Nikko Remigio | Shoulder | FP/FP |
| DE George Karlaftis | Thumb | FP/FP |
| S Jaden Hicks | Shoulder | FP/FP |
Observations
- Chris Roland-Wallace is trending toward missing his second consecutive game for Kansas City with a back injury. It’d be a substantial loss for the team, as it has typically meant that Chamarri Conner will be used in the slot for the big nickel sub-packages. That has been a constant mismatch in favor of the Chiefs’ opponents.
- With a second missed practice for RG Trey Smith and RT Jawaan Taylor, Chiefs fans should be preparing for a right offensive line combination consisting of former Western Michigan teammates Mike Caliendo and Jaylon Moore.
- Two consecutive full participant practices are a good sign for TE Noah Gray to make his return after suffering a concussion in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos.
Texans’ Thursday injury report for Week 14

| OT Trent Brown | Hand | DNP/LP |

| CB Kamari Lassiter | Foot | DNP/DNP |
| RB Woody Marks | Ankle | DNP/LP |
| S Jaylon Reed | Forearm | DNP/DNP |
| LB Azeez Al-Shaair | Knee | LP/FP |
Observations
- Tim Settle Jr. is undergoing season-ending foot surgery, which is a significant loss for the Texans’ interior defensive line.
- Will Anderson, Trent Brown, Woody Marks, Denico Autry, and Azeez Al-Shaair were all spotted practicing in some capacity for Houston on Thursday.
