Returning stars
The Chiefs are getting a pair of star players back in Week 2 against the Jaguars. Both TE Travis Kelce and DT Chris Jones are expected to make their 2023 NFL season debuts on Sunday. How much will both players participate and how big of an impact will their presence have? That all remains to be seen.
How will the NFL officiate RT Jawaan Taylor?
The NFL is reportedly cracking down on illegal formation penalties after RT Jawaan Taylor caused quite the uproar in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season. The league did not seem to call any illegal formation penalties on Thursday night and there were a few instances where they probably could have.
3 players to keep an eye on
- QB Patrick Mahomes: In games following a loss, Mahomes has thrown for 4,467 yards, 42 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions with a 13-3 overall record. He was clearly frustrated with his performance and the performance of his team in Week 1. Expect another gem from No. 15 this week, especially with him playing on his cake day.
- WR Kadarius Toney: No player had a worse week in Week 1 than Kadarius Toney. The second-year Chief took full responsibility for his poor performance. Rest assured that the team has some plans to get him involved early and help build up his confidence after the disappointing 2023 debut. He'll have to deal with a wet ball this week, so hopefully he spent some time working on his hands.
- DE Mike Danna: With Jags LT Cam Robinson out due to a suspension, Danna is going to be lining up against backup LT Walker Little the majority of the time. Chris Jones is also returning to the lineup, so Danna is going to get his fair share of 1-on-1 matchups. He's going to need to win those matchups on the regular to make the most out of facing off against a player like Little.

Referee Adrian Hill assigned to Chiefs vs. Jaguars game
If history is any indication, this is good news for Kansas City and bad news for Jacksonville.
