The Washington Commanders are getting ready for a much-needed win against the Dallas Cowboys, but the team could be very short-handed on Sunday.

This week was supposed to be a step in the right direction for wide receivers Noah Brown and Terry McLaurin, but instead, it’s been the complete opposite. Brown headed to the IR, which means he will be out for at least another four games, and McLaurin didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday when he was supposed to be a full participant.

Head coach Dan Quinn announced on Friday that McLaurin would be out for the game on Sunday, and it’s officially time to worry as he is missing his fourth game of the season now.

Quinn admitted that he said McLaurin would finally practice this week, but he noted that the injury just “wasn’t there yet”. McLaurin’s injury has become a real inconvenience for the team, and obviously, he wants to be out there, but this has been as bad a start as possible for his season.

Quinn also commented on not sending him to the IR when it happened because it had lingered longer than expected, and they didn’t want to shut him down if he could’ve ended up playing after three or four weeks, which obviously didn’t happen. We don’t have a real timetable on when McLaurin will actually play again, and that’s very concerning.

McLaurin’s injury is just one of many to worry about, with Deebo Samuel, Zach Ertz, and Dorance Armstrong as important pieces that could miss the game on Sunday as well. Samuel said “We’ll see” regarding his game status against the Cowboys, and added that the heel injury is “aggravating for sure”. Jayden Daniels being without his top three wide receivers and his top tight end target isn’t ideal.

Dorance Armstrong is the best player on defense for the Commanders, and they have a tough task against one of the best offenses in the league. These injuries are starting to become a real problem for the Commanders during the first half of the season, but hopefully, some of those key players will be active on Sunday.
