Chiefs have another big win coming soon with WR Rashee Rice finally eligible to return from suspension in Week 7 vs. Raiders
The Chiefs’ offense will get a shot in the arm in Week 7 ahead of their matchup against the Raiders.
The Kansas City Chiefs secured a 30-17 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season to get back to .500 with a 3-3 record, and they have another big win on the way for their offense.
As of Tuesday, Oct. 14, Chiefs third-year WR Rashee Rice will be eligible for reinstatement following his six-game suspension to start the 2025 NFL season. The wideout was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, March 30, 2024. He was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days in jail on July 17, 2025.
Rice has been at the team’s facilities for the past three weeks, participating in team meetings while also undergoing rehab and weight training. Upon reinstatement by Commissioner Roger Goodell, he’ll be able to participate in team activities without restriction as the team prepares for the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7. This will be Rice’s first regular-season game in over 375 days, dating back to Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season, when he suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The team will need to make space on the 53-man roster upon his return, but he could be granted a roster exemption leading up to their Week 7 game with the Raiders. They’d still need to make the roster move before he suits up and plays in the game, but they wouldn’t have to make a personnel decision immediately.
Rashee Rice will be a shot in the arm for the Chiefs’ offense
The Chiefs’ offense has been lacking a yard-after-catch threat in the intermediate passing game. They’ve got guys like Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster, but Rice adds a different type of speed, burst, and physicality with the ball in his hands. We’ve seen that briefly this year, ahead of his suspension during training camp and the preseason.
Rice played just 20 offensive snaps in the preseason, recording two catches on two targets for 13 yards and a touchdown in preseason Week 3 against the Chicago Bears. He was on a killer pace in the 2024 NFL season before he suffered his season-ending knee injury in 2024.
Chiefs WR Rashee Rice’s 17-game pace in 2024
- 2024 stats through Week 4: 24 receptions, 288 receiving yards, two touchdowns
- 2024 pace: 136 receptions, 1,638 receiving yards, 11 touchdowns
With Tyquan Thornton, Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Kelce, and Smith-Schuster, there are a lot of mouths to feed in the offense. The Chiefs’ offense also happens to be the pass-happiest in the NFL, with 183 passing attempts from Patrick Mahomes through the first five weeks of the 2025 NFL season. There’s more than enough work to go around so that everybody can eat upon Rice’s return.
