Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice remains on the reserve/suspended list for three more games, but he’ll take an essential step toward returning to the gridiron this week.

Rice was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, March 30, 2024. It took an entire NFL season, most of which Rice was out due to a season-ending knee injury, to resolve his criminal and civil cases stemming from the crash. He was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days in jail on July 17, 2025. Just over a month later, the NFL and Rice’s camp agreed to a six-game suspension for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy to start the 2025 season.

As a result of the suspension, Rice has been forced to stay away from the team. It’s the entire reason his teammates wore shirts with his likeness ahead of the Week 2 game against the Philadelphia Eagles at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. That portion of his punishment will soon come to a close.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is eligible to rejoin his team this week

Rashee Rice is officially eligible to return to the Chiefs’ team facilities this week after serving the first three weeks of his suspension. While he’s unable to participate in practice in any capacity, he can be part of team meetings, rehab, and weight training. This is part of the ramp-up process to ensure that he’s able to hit the ground running when he returns to the field.

Simply having Rice in the building is going to be a big lift to team spirits as they prep for another big test against an AFC foe, with the Baltimore Ravens coming to Kansas City in Week 4.

Rice is not eligible to return to practice until Wednesday, Oct. 15, ahead of the team’s Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. It’ll mark his first regular-season game since suffering his knee injury in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season against the Los Angeles Chargers.
