The Ohio State Buckeyes have had way more issues recruiting top pass-rushers out of high school than anyone would expect, given their program's deep pockets, NFL pipeline, and coaching tree. It's caused consternation within the fan base to see five-stars continually pass up Ohio State for greener pastures.

Instead, Ryan Day and defensive line coach Larry Johnson have done better with the transfer portal. And just one year after whiffing on an athletic, developmental body, they'll have the chance to get their man again.

On Monday, freshman KingJoseph Edwards entered the portal with four full years of eligibility remaining. The Syracuse edge-rusher logged three sacks in five games.

The Buckeyes could use more young talent to work with. Even after adding Beau Atkinson this past offseason, four of the Buckeyes' top pass-rushers will either be seniors or depart after 2025. There's then an age gap to the next generation.

Adding Edwards would give the Buckeyes another young option to rotate in. Johnson may not remain the defensive line coach beyond this season as he continues to age into his mid-70s, but this could be one more big swing before he retires.
