A video of Marshall Manning — the son of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning — playing middle school football went viral last month due to the youngster's already incredible mechanics.
The video led to Tennessee fans salivating over the idea of Marshall one day playing for the Volunteers.
While the Marshall to Tennessee connection seems obvious, it's far from a guarantee that Peyton's son will play for the Vols. For starters, Marshall has grown up in Denver, far from SEC country. And secondly, there's the fact that the Mannings are known for letting their children make their own decisions (Peyton and Arch Manning, for example).
Something happened this week, though, that makes the idea of Marshall to Tennessee not that far fetched.
According to Stephen Hargis of the Times Free Press, Marshall has enrolled at The Baylor School in Chattanooga.
Hargis' tweet notes that Marshall will attend as an eighth grade day student, which means he may now be a class of 2030 recruit instead of 2029.
Tennessee regularly recruits The Baylor School (the Vols recently signed Joakim Dodson out of there and landed Amari Jefferson as a transfer).
There's still a long way to go before Marshall commits to a school, but the fact that he'll be playing football in Vols country will almost certainly make an impression on him over the next few years.
Controversial play that changed the course of the Tennessee Vols’ 2024 season appears to have caused the SEC to change its rules
How is Tennessee always involved?
