The New Orleans Saints are trying to get their ducks in a row ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Their needs are aplenty for an aging roster, but they could go in a multitude of directions, particularly in the first round.

Penn State tight end Tyler Warren remains an interesting option, and the Saints are expected to attend his private workout ahead of the draft. Not all teams are involved in that exclusive workout.

Tyler Warren could be the Saints' pick

Nick Underhill pointed out an answer from the Saints new head coach that many fans probably did not hear or pay much attention to when he said it.

Moore's description of how building an offense has evolved hinted a bit towards selecting the star Penn State tight end in the first round.

"I think it's really on guys who impact the game. I think skill position guys – sometimes we get stuck with running back, fullback, receiver…maybe only a tight end… You just want impact players."

"If you have two premier tight ends, you're gonna play in twelve personnel… You don't want to pass up on good players just because they can't quite fit what you currently do…"

— Kellen Moore

The Penn State product is really quite the unique prospect. He caught the ball, ran the ball, and even threw the ball as a Nittany Lion. Warren was the center of attention nearly every week of his final season, but teams usually still could not find a way to slow him down.

Moore's comments make it clear that a best player available sort of approach at the skill positions is a mindset that he may use as the team's new HC. He's keeping options open in order to build a strong roster from top to bottom.

Does it make sense for Kellen Moore's offense?

Moore has always valued multiple tight ends when possible. In Philadelphia, Dallas Goedert was the main pass catching TE, but they had multiple blocking TEs beside him as well.

Keep in mind – Philly also valued having a lot of talent at pass catcher in general with Devonta Smith, A.J. Brown, among others. Saquon Barkley was useful in the passing game out of the backfield as well.

In New Orleans, we could see a scenario where Moore thinks it is smartest to add Warren to a group alongside Juwan Johnson, Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Alvin Kamara. He certainly kept that door open with his comments at the NFL owners meetings.
