Long before Zac Taylor was hired as head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, he was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year for the University of Nebraska in 2006.

Taylor has had the chance to coach a handful of former Cornhuskers like himself in Cincinnati, most notably cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, but Taylor-Britt is the only Nebraska alum the Bengals have drafted since Taylor took over in 2019.

That could change later this month as a couple Cornhuskers are on Cincinnati's radar.

Bengals meet with Nebraska DT Ty Robinson, C Ben Scott

The Bengals have shown clear interest in addressing their defensive line and are likely to use a top-100 draft pick to bolster the group. Nebraska defensive tackle Ty Robinson is a name to remember in that regard. Per Sportskeeda's Tony Pauline, the Bengals met with Robinson this week.

According to Pauline, Robinson is viewed as a likely Day 2 selection with a chance of being drafted in the second round. He comes in at 168th on A to Z Sports' top 200 big board

The soon-to-be 24-year old interior defender started three of his six years at Nebraska and saved his best season for last. He racked up team-highs in tackles for loss (12.5) and sacks (7). At the NFL Scouting Combine, he ran a 4.83 40-yard dash after measuring in at 6-5 and 288 pounds.

Robinson would give the Bengals a needed pass-rushing boost at the position. If teams are truly as high on Robinson as Pauline reports, Cincinnati would likely need to use its 49th overall pick to draft him.

As for center Ben Scott, the Bengals may not need to use a draft pick on him at all. Scott isn't projected to be drafted. Pauline reports that Scott's meeting with the Bengals has already happened.

Cincinnati has two centers on the roster in starter Ted Karras and backup Matt Lee. Lee was the club's final draft pick in last year's draft but earned playing time in 2024 as an eligible blocker. Free agent addition Lucas Patrick has also played center in his nine years of NFL experience.

Scott would likely be a camp body with an outside chance at making the Week 1 roster, but o-line depth is o-line depth.
