Kenneth Grant Scouting Report

Kenneth Grant, defensive tackle, Michigan

Age
: 21 (10/27/2003)

A to Z Sports Expected Draft Position: 19

Pre-Draft Round Projection: 1

Kenneth Grant is a tremendous physical talent and projects right away to be an anchor for a defense that helps shut down opponents' rushing up the middle. He's a better athlete than given credit for, especially for someone typecasted as a nose tackle. Given that Michigan's defense was run-first and didn't prioritize the pass rush, there's some untapped potential here as a pass rusher in my opinion. A team might be able to reap the benefits of unlocking more of Grant's athleticism down the line. – A to Z Sports' AJ Schulte

Why the Dolphins picked him

To address one of the team's most glaring and obvious holes on their roster.  I've said it plenty before, but I'll say it again. What they have at defensive tackle beyond Zach Sieler is woefully inadequate for the season, and if you're Charmin soft up the middle in the NFL, you're not going to do anything. They had to address defensive tackle early, and now they have a physical presence to help hold the middle in Grant.

It would have been nice to perhaps trade back and maybe land him while adding some additional picks, but it is what it is, and that's a more physical front for the Dolphins than they had half an hour ago.

The Dolphins have been labeled "soft" by both former and current players inside the last two years. It's time for them to start bringing in players who can buck that reputation, and Grant is one of them.
