The Las Vegas Raiders went into Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft with a ton of holes to fill on their roster, and so far, they have done a great job of addressing those needs. This time, their first pick on Day 2 ends up being a wide receiver.

During the offseason, fans and media both like to put together mock drafts as a fun way to predict who the team will take. And, I can guarantee you not many had the Raiders taking Jack Bech, the wide receiver out of TCU. And I know not many had Bech going to the Raiders in the second round.

After two times trading out of their pick twice in the second round, once with the Miami Dolphins and once with the Houston Texans. Either way, they were able to get a lot of picks for fairly cheap, while still drafting the players they wanted, even though they moved back.

So, they drafted a guy who is perfect for the identity that the Raiders want to establish on the offensive side of the ball.

Raiders get WR to help establish identity on offense

Jack Bech is a different type of wide receiver than what most were thinking they would get. He doesn't have the elite speed of a guy like Tre Tucker, who's on the roster, or the elite route running like Jakobi Meyers. But he does have a little bit of everything.

Bech has good speed for his size at 6'1", and while his route running could definitely use some work, he has moments of separation that look really good. His hands are sure, as he has had the second-lowest drop rate in the country since 2022 at 1.5%, according to 33rd Team. But most importantly, he fits what the Raiders want to do on offense.

You may start to notice a trend — Ashton Jeanty, Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers, they are all lunch pail guys, blue collar players that are as tough as they come — they fight for everything, and they do all the dirty work, including blocking. Bech has that to him. he is as tough as they come, maybe the toughest wide receiver in the draft.

And Bech has a little swagger to him,  a little grittiness that fits what the Raiders do, and he's certainly not afraid to get in there and block for the run game. And you have to think that is the biggest reason they chose him. That, and he's really good. Bech finished 2024 with 1,034 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.

Jack Bech, WR, TCU Scouting Report

Age: 22 (12/18/2002)

A to Z Sports Draft Projection: 79 Overall, 3rd Round

Scouting Report: Jack Bech is the kind of player who goes quietly on day two, and you turn around and see him as a possession-dominant WR who makes a solid living as a long-time veteran NFL wide receiver. He is not an elite athlete. He doesn't have take-the-top-off-the-defense speed, elite suddenness to win in tight quarters, or the acceleration to strike up the field after the catch. What he does have is great size at over 6'1" and 214 pounds, terrific physicality at the catch point, quietly deadly hands, and solid jump ball ability evidenced by his nearly 35-inch vertical leap. This is the prototype for a big slot that teams have tried to force into early rounds. Bech is a value pick that can help a team early and play for a while in the league. – A to Z Sports NFL Draft Analyst Rob Gregson
