One week from now, Green Bay will host the NFL Draft for the first time ever. Inside Lambeau Field, general manager Brian Gutekunst will work to keep building a strong roster with the 23rd overall pick.

Around the draft pundit circle, there is a growing consensus building up. Analyzing the top mock drafts in the industry, all agree that the Packers will select a defensive player in the first round. Edge defenders and cornerbacks appear in different exercises, but it seems like offense will have to wait.

CB Will Johnson, Michigan

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Johnson go as high as No. 11 to the 49ers, but he might still be on the board in the 20s. He declined to run the 40-yard dash at his pro day and the medicals will be a factor for several teams, but the tape shows a really good football player.

Field Yates, ESPN

EDGE Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M

Stewart has some of the most intriguing traits in the class. His speed, length and power all pop on tape and were on full display at the combine. However, he managed just 4.5 sacks in three seasons at Texas A&M. This would be a bet on his potential for Green Bay, but there's no doubt the Packers could use his upside and ability to get pressure off the edge.

Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN

EDGE Mykel Williams, Georgia

The Packers had 45 sacks last season (tied for eighth), but that's a little misleading. They were really good at converting pressure into sacks, but they got pressure only 29.8% of the time (22nd). Williams was hindered by an ankle injury in 2024, which kept him to five sacks over 12 games. But he has the explosive traits to be an extremely effective edge rusher. Other spots of interest would be receiver and cornerback, so expect Green Bay to take a look at guys like Emeka Egbuka or Kentucky corner Maxwell Hairston, too.

Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network

CB Maxwell Hairston, Kentucky

It's not clear if Jaire Alexander has a future in Green Bay, so the Packers turn to the highly dynamic Hairston at cornerback.

Trevor Sikkema, PFF

CB Shavon Revel, East Carolina

Revel didn’t work out in Indianapolis, as he is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered early in the 2024 season. But he is a prototypical Green Bay cornerback at just under 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds with long arms and big hands. He would have passed all the speed and explosiveness thresholds with flying colors. Green Bay reportedly could move on from Jaire Alexander, so this is a pairing we could see more and more in mocks.

CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss

The Packers are expected to move on from Jaire Alexander this offseason which would create a big need at outside CB. Ole Miss’ Trey Amos on paper would be one of the top fits for them to consider at the position. He would likely be a Day One starter in Green Bay’s defense and help soften the blow of losing Alexander.
