The New England Patriots' third-round pick is officially in!
With the 69th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the New England Patriots selected Washington State WR Kyle Williams.
New England was expected to target a receiver at some point in the draft, and it seems they think Williams is their guy.
Everything to know about Kyle Williams
With Stefon Diggs coming off a torn ACL, it made sense why the Patriots would target a receiver higher in the draft. And Williams is someone who can be considered as a underrated pick up for New England, especially if he has similar success to college.
Williams began his career at UNLV, but transferred to Washington State in 2023. In his final season, he emerged as a key weapon, finishing with 70 receptions for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was also used in the run game, recording nine carries for 57 yards.
And, he ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine.
A to Z Sports' Draft Expert Travis May explained what Williams can bring during his time in Foxborough.
"It's rare to see a wide receiver break out as a true freshman, but that's exactly what Kyle Williams did way back in the COVID-shortened 2020 college football season. Back then Williams was still with UNLV, immediately becoming the team's best receiver, impressing in smaller samples of production for three straight seasons. Once Williams transferred to Washington State he took his game to a whole new level. The top tier athleticism that he flashed at UNLV became even more evident as he racked up over 2000 yards and 20 touchdowns in his final two collegiate seasons for Washington State. He offers 4.4-second forty-yard dash speed, elite yards after catch ability (nearly 8.5 yards after catch in 2024), and he can play inside or out. Williams has been quickly rising up draft boards this spring for good reason," May writes.
