When it comes to recruiting and developing the wide receiver position, there is nobody better in college football right now than Ohio State’s Brian Hartline. His resume speaks for itself, not only the on-field production every year, but the track record of putting tremendous players in the NFL. It isn’t overly surprising to see talented wide receiver recruits keep lining up to play for the Buckeyes.

For a while now, Coach Hartline has been working hard to flip 2026 Southlake (Texas) Carroll star pass catcher Brock Boyd. He was previously committed to the TCU Horned Frogs, but that didn’t stop the Buckeyes from pursuing him. On Tuesday, they were able to finally make the flip happen when he announced his commitment to Ohio State.

Boyd is currently ranked as a four-star player on the 247Sports Composite ranking. That ranking has him pegged as the No. 374 overall player, the No. 58 wide receiver, and the No. 52 player in the state of Texas in the 2026 recruiting class.

Outside of the Buckeyes and Horned Frogs, Boyrd has accumulated an impressive offer list. Some of the other top schools that have offered him include Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Nebraska among many others.

Some may underrate Boyd based on his slender 6-1, 165-pound frame, but there is no questioning the production. As a junior, Boyd hauled in 111 receptions for 1,875 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was a big reason why Southlake Carroll was able to put together a 15-1 record in 2024.

With Boyd now committed, he joins Chris Henry Jr. and Jaeden Ricketts to make another tremendous wide receiver haul. Hartline and the staff will also continue to try to add one more wide receiver to push the number to five. Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei pass catcher Kayden Dixon-Wyatt is one to watch closely.
