The Los Angeles Chargers need to nail their 2025 NFL Draft class if they really want to make that leap in the AFC West. Them and the Denver Broncos are trying to catch the Kansas City Chiefs, while the Las Vegas Raiders are far behind.

And, to catch the Chiefs, and make that leap over the Broncos, who they are pretty much tied with in the division based on last season's results, they have to make significant jumps when it comes to their roster. The best way to do that is through the draft, and while the Chargers don't have a high pick, there are still some real game changers they can get.

They have some needs, though, and actually a pretty big list of them. The Chargers need to put weapons around Justin Herbert, they need to protect him, and the defense needs to make sure they hold up their end of the bargain. On that side of the ball, they have a few needs, one of them being the linebacker position.

This week, they met with a linebacker who isn't being talked about enough.

Chaz Chambliss, for some reason, isn't being talked about enough, and he has the championship mentality that NFL teams want. And, he's meeting with the Chargers on Tuesday.

Chambliss, a former linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2021 to 2024, helped win national championships in 2021 and 2022. A four-star recruit, he had a limited role his first two years, recording 25 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

He became a starting outside linebacker in 2023 and peaked in 2024 with 41 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and Third-Team All-SEC honors. Chambliss finished his 54-game career with 87 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, nine sacks, one interception, and a fumble recovery.

Despite tying for Georgia’s sack lead in 2024, he was not invited to the 2025 NFL Combine but impressed at Pro Day with 30 bench press reps, a 32-inch vertical, and a 10-foot broad jump. At 6’2” and 250 pounds, his versatility and effort make him a projected late-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He's a solid player with great run instincts and the ability to rush the passer on blitz packages if needed.

He needs work on his coverage side of things, but he seems to be teachable. The Chargers would love to have him on the team.
