It's no secret that the Oklahoma Sooners have inquired about addressing the offense throughout the spring transfer portal. They are already off to a strong start by picking up running back Jaydn Ott and offensive lineman Jake Maikkula, both of whom seem poised to have significant roles in 2025.

The Sooners are now focused on adding talent at wide receiver and tight end to boost their offense and surround John Mateer with as much talent as possible. Their most recent offer at wide receiver would bring a dynamite playmaker who can impact the Sooners' offense and special teams.

Oklahoma offered BYU transfer wide receiver Keelan Marion on Saturday.

Marion was a First-Team All-American kick returner last season, totaling 881 yards and three touchdowns as a returner last season. Marion was also named Second Team All-Big 12 all-purpose performer behind Iowa State's Jaylin Noel in 2024. On top of his returning ability, Marion has 77 career receptions for 1,126 yards and seven touchdowns and is fresh off a season where he caught 24 passes for 346 yards and a touchdown as a rotational player for the Cougars.

For the Sooners, they are looking to bolster the depth of the receiving room with injuries impacting the room for the summer. However, Marion would give Oklahoma a skill set they haven't had in Norman in quite some time. The Sooners haven't returned a single kickoff for a touchdown since 2016, when Joe Mixon returned a touchdown against Ohio State in Week 3.

Last season, Oklahoma's special teams took a step forward, but offered nothing in the return game, leaning on defensive backs Billy Bowman Jr and Peyton Bowen in the punt game and running backs Sam Franklin and Taylor Tatum on kickoffs. As the Sooners look to improve in the margins to stay competitive in the SEC, it makes sense that they would heavily pursue a dynamic returner to help change games.
