The book has been closed on the Ohio State National Championship from last season with plenty of new on the current team. Ohio State has to turn the page and focus on the future since the current team hasn’t done anything yet.
Ohio State had a solid spring but things looked a lot different with 15+ soon-to-be NFL draft picks no longer around. Still, the Buckeyes recruit as well as anyone and usually reload.
Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer recently made his early prediction for the Buckeyes in 2025 and fans may not like it.
“I think they’ve recruited at a whole different level than anyone else in college football,” Meyer said on “The Triple Option podcast”. “They had a good spring game. They love their quarterback — Julian Sayin — but I’ve got them at 10 wins.”
10 wins would mean that the Buckeyes lose two regular season games and that would likely cost them a shot at the Big Ten Championship. Though the Buckeyes are coming off of a season where they won it all, Ohio State hasn’t won the Big Ten since the 2020 season. Beating Michigan and winning the Big Ten is somewhere that Ryan Day’s team needs to improve.
Michigan took a big step back last season after their National Championship in 2023 but they lost a ton from that team. Jim Harbaugh left, as well as majority of the coaching staff, and much of the team that was draft-eligible
A 10-win season would be a big step back from Ohio State’s 14-win season in 2024. However, with a new quarterback and two new coordinators, it is very possible. Meyer’s prediction will be something to look back on.
Ohio State Buckeyes may have to beat out a major SEC program for a key transfer portal player
Buckeyes aren’t the only ones chasing him.
