Lions brought in much-talked-about running back Cam Skattebo for a pre-draft visit, what it could say about the future
Here's an interesting one. The Detroit Lions are pretty set at running back with Jahmy Gibbs and David Montgomery, but at the moment, Montgomery is about to turn 28 in June, and his contract is set up in such a way that the Lions could have an out after the 2025 season. The Lions have […]

The Lions have spent a good deal of the offseason looking at running backs, and there's some thought that they could be looking for the eventual Montgomery replacement. For one of their final top-30 visits, the Lions brought in Arizona Starw running back Cam Skattebo
Skattebo was a guy that everyone was talking about at the end of the 2024 NCAA season. He put up 1,711 yards on 5.8 yards per carry. He also ran in 21 touchdowns. He then won the Peach Bowl MVP and finished fifth in the Heisman vote.
He definitely is a hard runner, similar to Montgomery. He can lower the shoulder on guys, but he can also juke it out, too.
We've known for some time who Skattebo has met with for the most part, but there were some mystery teams that hadn't quite been revealed just yet. We now know that the Lions and the Titans were those two teams.
In terms of where the Lions could draft Skattebo if they're truly interested in making that move right now, he's projected to be a third-round draft pick. Our A to Z Sports draft team has his average draft position sitting at 94.00 at this time. That's just a few picks higher than the 102nd pick the Lions hold now. Imagine if he falls.
