The Texas Longhorns still have their work cut out for them if Steve Sarkisian and company want to bring in another elite recruiting class in 2026. As of this writing they only have eight players committed, but should certainly find themselves in many more recruiting battles throughout the month of June.

One of those critical recruiting battles just got a bit easier as a key edge defender recruit has announced that Texas is officially in his final four. Plus he'll be announcing his commitment on July 4th, so Longhorns fans won't have to wait too long on this one.

Bryce Perry-Wright, Four Star EDGE Recruit

Bryce Perry-Wright has been a high priority recruiting target for the Texas Longhorns dating back to the spring of 2023 when they first offered him a scholarship. Immediately following that spring the recruiting services caught up to the fact that he was one of the best players in the country and ranked him extremely high–as a potential five star candidate. Since then he's only continued to add good weight and explosiveness to his game, proving to be one of the best edge or defensive line prospects in the country.

As of this week this elite talent has announced his finalists and commitment date (July 4th). He'll be choosing between Clemson, Miami, Texas, and Texas A&M. He's already visited with Clemson and Miami early this summer. Perry-Wright will see Texas on the 13th of June, then visit Texas A&M the following week to wrap up his busy official visits season.

Bryce Perry-Wright has tried to keep his recruitment intentions as vague and open as possible, so claiming Texas (or any program) to be a true favorite at this point is likely still a fool's errand. He's gone as far as naming all of his top schools in alphabetical order for well over a year now (even when there were still over a half dozen schools involved).

However, this spring Perry-Wright has made mention of his emphasis on player development far more than any other factor in interviews. In fact, he spoke of specific Texas players like Colin Simmons getting developed quickly being a major plus (on multiple occasions).

Texas has sent 23 players to the NFL in the last two drafts alone, so if Perry-Wright wants developing Steve Sarkisian and company sure have a strong case to offer there. Let's hope that fact and the final visit here next week do enough to bring in his special difference maker.
