If you're ever in a situation where you need to communicate with Tennessee Vols legend and NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, you probably shouldn't expect a text.
Instead, you'll likely be on the other end of a lengthy voice memo.
Peyton, who unsurprisingly is well-prepared in every aspect of his life, is notorious for sending long voice memos instead of sending a text like most people.
Eli Manning recently appeared on the Glue Guys Podcast and he detailed his older brother's quirky habit.
"I think Peyton knows that he's a psycho a little bit on his prep," said Eli. "He leaves these voice memos…he left me a voice memo today, like a six minute [memo]. So not a voicemail. He's not calling me and leaving a message, like, 'Hey, what's up?' — it's a text message that he leaves a voice recording about what's going on.
"When [we] do, like, a game plan, he'll leave me a 35 minute voice memo. Who has 35 minutes to listen to someone tell you what's going on? Right away, I'm like, 'Just send me the cliff notes'. I'll text him back, 'Need cliff notes of the 35 minute voice [memo], not listening [to it]'. It's like on a game film that he watched and he's leaving me the notes. I'm like, It's quicker for me to just watch the film then to listen to your voice memo."
Peyton actually revealed his voice memo habit last fall while describing his interactions with nephew Arch Manning during an appearance on Bussin with the Boys.
"[Arch] will, every now and then, text me with a question about a two-minute drill or this is what happened in practice today," said Peyton. "And I'm sure as soon as he texts me the question, he regrets it. Because you can't answer a question about a two minute drill with a text back. You have to go to the voice memo. And it can't be just one. So you bang him back with a seven minute voice memo response about the two minute [drill], about what the defense is doing, the plays that you like. You gotta go to your staples. And then you finish it and you're like, I didn't even mention the fact that a defense after a time out will probably come with an exotic blitz. So you better call a max protection coming out of the timeout. And then you finish that one, that's about a six minute [voice memo]. And then you're like, I totally forgot about the red zone. So three voice memos later…he's probably calling Eli (Manning) more."
Peyton's a Hall of Famer, so maybe he's on to something with the voice memos.
