Under head coach Dan Lanning, the Oregon Ducks have been recruited on an all time level in Eugene. That momentum has continued into the 2026 recruiting class, and that group has a chance to be a special one. There are several priority recruits that are set to visit this month for official visits.

That includes (Calif.) High School five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, arguably the biggest target remaining on the board. Lyons will be heading to Oregon this weekend, and it’ll be a huge one for the Ducks.

Lyons, who is listed at 6-2 and 215 pounds, is considered an elite prospect in the 2026 class. He currently ranks as a five-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite ranking, currently sitting as the No. 19 overall player, No. 5 quarterback, and No. 5 player in the state of California. 247Sports is even higher on their own ranking, currently sitting as the No. 13 overall player in the class.

Some of the very best programs in all of college football have pursued Lyons heavily. Lyons’ top offers include the Trojans, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, and Texas A&M among many others.

As a junior, Lyons put together a tremendous season for Folsom. In 13 games, he threw for 3,011 yards and 46 touchdowns, while also completing over 68 percent of his passes and throwing just six interceptions. Lyons also added another 585 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.

If Oregon is able to land Lyons, he has a strong argument as the most talented quarterback they have had in a some time, at least since Justin Herbert. He is a natural thrower of the football, and a dynamic athlete as well. Lyons can literally do whatever he wants on a football field it seems.

His overall presence can help to create an epic recruiting class. The talent is easy to see, and this is Oregon’s chance to potentially close. They head into the trip as the presumed leader, and their lead needs to lengthen during the visit.
