We're getting ever closer to the Detroit Lions' season getting underway. Training camp is almost here, and the preseason is just eight weeks away. This summer, we're going to see a lot of the younger players get on the field in the preseason and at camp and make a name for themselves in the NFL.
For us, four guys really stand out as potential hidden gems who could put the league on notice this summer and make something out of themselves. Here are those five guys:
S Morice Norris
Diet Brian Branch. That's our personal nickname for Norris, and it's because he has a lot of versatility that we just haven't seen talked about enough. He can play both safety spots, inside and outside corner. He can also be a good hand on special teams. The Lions added him to the 53-man roster at the end of the season in 2024, and we think he's going to remain there going into the 2025 season.
LB Grant Stuard
Most people know who Stuard is, but they see him as just a special-teams ace. The Lions don't, though. Yes, he'll be used there, but the Lions also see him on defense, where he is an expert-level tackler, and he could also be on offense as a fullback. Do not underestimate this guy.
C Kingsely Eguakun
There is just too much rushing to the idea that either Graham Glasgow or Tate Ratledge are just guaranteed the starting center spot or that they're the clubhouse leaders. The Lions seem to really like this guy. Since Frank Ragnow's retirement, Lions head coach Dan Campbell has brought up Eguakun unprompted multiple times. Keep an eye on this guy.
Edge Nate Lynn
Lynn had a strong camp and a really strong preseason last year until he suffered a season-ending injury. There's something there that the Lions like about him. He was one of those undrafted guys that they spent a top-30 visit on, and he was showing why. Now that he's healthy again, let's see what he can do.
