The transfer portal has been good to the Tennessee Vols over the last week.  However, the portal giveth and it taketh away, and the latter took place on Monday regarding a notable name on Tennessee's baseball roster.

Per Go Vols 247's Ben McKee, LHP Dylan Loy is entering the transfer portal.

McKee also noted his belief that Loy is seeking an opportunity to be a starter somewhere.

Loy was a key part of the Vols' bullpen in 2025.  He appeared in 33 games and logged 34.0 innings with 36 strikeouts, 11 walks, and a 3.97 ERA. He saw a good bit of work on Sundays as Tennessee worked to get through the rubber matches of SEC series effectively short a third weekend starter for much of the season.

Tennessee has done a good job bringing in a bevy of pitching options in the portal over the last week.  Right-handed pitchers Matt Barr (Niagara CC), Brady Frederick (ETSU), Bo Rhudy (Kennesaw State), Cody Edmondson (UNC-Asheville), and Mason Estrada (MIT) have all pledged their commitment to the Vols.

However, Loy brings experience and is a left-handed option for the bullpen, not small things to replace.

We'll see how the rest of the portal moves shake out, but this is a significant move the Vols will have to address.
