Missouri four-star defensive tackle Titan Davis had the look of the ideal next impact Alabama lineman, and the Crimson Tide were favored to land his commitment just days ago. In fact, Kalen DeBoer's Tide had made Davis' top two alongside Michigan.

Alabama "rolled out the red carpet" for Davis on his visit a few weeks ago, but it wasn't enough to lock him in. Davis went so far as to say the trip was fantastic, so what happened to make him go to Michigan, leaving Alabama stunned?

However, Alabama "made a serious splash" with Davis on their visit last weekend. Now, the Tide have only one competitor left: Michigan.

“I think the visit was awesome,” Davis' high school coach Terrance Poe told BOL. “They did a great job of not selling themselves, but putting a stamp on the rumors and people think about Alabama. It was a lot better than the expectations. The structure is there. The standard is the standard.”

Instead, Tuscaloosa must not have felt like home. Davis, through On3's Hayes Fawcett, said, “I’m home GO Blue!"

The 6-foot-4, 262-pounder ended up visiting Ann Arbor last, so it's possible than On3 was wrong again this offseason with one of their predictions. The site has been struggling to nail landing spots more than usual, and their recruitment prediction machine flip flopped heavily in favor of Michigan only at the last second.

But about 24 hours after his visit, he was a Wolverine. It's clear Alabama was either improperly viewed as the favorite based on their visit order, or something changed.

Here's what the Davis family enjoyed most about Michigan.

“Overall culture there it’s hard to beat that’s for sure,” his mother Jessica Johnson told On3’s Steve Wiltfong this spring. “You can feel those people are genuine.”
