Vikings hosting Jonathan Allen on a visit

It's a big one for the Vikings for a multitude of reasons. They are currently sitting with slightly over $61 million before factoring in the extension for safety Theo Jackson. Not only do they have money to spend, but the needs on both sides of the football are clear.

Arguably the biggest need for the Vikings is pass-rushing defensive tackle and Allen fits the bill. Having just turned 30, Allen is set to enter his ninth season after being released by the Washington Commanders late last week.

One of the biggest things when it comes to the defensive line is fortifying the pass rush. Allen is a player that provides that and then some. Despite tearing his pectoral muscle in week six against the Detroit Lions, Allen returned in week 17 and still played 11 games this past year. He accumulated 26 pressures and 3.0 sacks across 249 pass-rush snaps.

Allen is reported to have a major interest in joining the Vikings and the interest from Minnesota has been interested in him for some time. The Vikings looked into trading for him this past offseason due to his ability to both rush the passer and also play the run. His hump move is one of the best in the NFL.

If the Vikings were able to get it done, not only would the help solve the interior pass rush, it also wouldn't count toward the compensatory formula.
