Joe Milton's promising performance in the New England Patriots 2024 season finale had many thinking that he could be headed elsewhere this offseason. There are plenty of teams that are in the quarterback market and Milton proved that he deserves to compete for a starting spot.

He won't get that with the Patriots considering Drake Maye is the quarterback of the future. And New England signed veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs on the first day of free agency. So, where does that leave Milton?

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Patriots "have had discussions on trading QB Joe Milton III and would like to trade him to the right situation to continue his development in the NFL — should a deal get done."

Right now, teams that need a quarterback are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and New York Giants. And there aren't many quality options available. If a team comes in with an offer that's too good to pass up, the Patriots might just have to take them up on.

But, he's a clear fan favorite in Foxborough.

At the NFL Combine, head coach Mike Vrabel was asked by MassLive about all Milton trade rumors.

“I think it’s a little early to have that conversation right now as far as trading players,” Vrabel said. “I would say that anything that we could do within reason to strengthen our roster we would have to entertain – outside of I would say of a few players.”

“I’ve talked to Joe. I’ve reached out. We’ve had conversations,” he added. “I think that’s too soon to tell (an impression)….He took advantage of his opportunity at the end of the season, which is all we can ask of any player, is that they’re able to do that.”

Who knows where Milton will be when the 2025 season begins.
