The off-season for the Oklahoma Sooners has been pretty much a rollercoaster, with some ups and some downs. There's no need to lay everything out there that has happened, we all know by now. But, let's just say some of the bad came in recruiting.

Their recruitment this off-season had some good areas, like landing the best offensive lineman in the country in Michael Fasusi, who is already shaping up to be SEC ready with his size. However, the class isn't as good as maybe some hoped. Then again, that happens when you're losing a ton of games, especially games to schools like Navy.

But the transfer portal process at certain positions is what really went bad. I think we all know where I'm going with this too — the tight end position. They just could not seem to land anyone who had SEC experience, or even experience at a major program. And the small school guys they did go after didn't really have any success at their previous stops. And, that's underwhelming.

One thing they did do for the position group, that I think will actually go better than most think, is move linebacker Jaren Kanak to the tight end position. And, according to him, that's going well so far.

Jaren Kanak to be Sooners tight end in 2025

Kanak was more than willing to make the switch, and I'm sure he felt he could do it. He likely played on offense in high school, so this could be him going back to something he did all the time. But, it's obvious he wants to do whatever it takes to win. And he's going to put in the work.

“I’ve been on those jugs like a baby on milk," Kanak told reporters.

First, that has to be the quote of the summer. Secondly, when he says jugs he means the machine that helps players catch better. And so it shows that he's working relentlessly. And hey, if this whole experiment works out for the Sooners, they are going to look like geniuses.
