For the past half-decade, the heart and soul of the Pittsburgh Steelers was their front seven.

More specifically, it was their defensive line, with dominance at all five spots.

But after a late-season collapse, the Steelers know that the foundation of their team started to show some cracks, and they might have the perfect man to sure up that unit…

Steelers interested in bringing back Javon Hargrave?

Source: The Steelers have staff members who would love to bring back former Steeler DT Javon Hargrave. He knows the defense. And is only 32. It would not preclude them from taking D-line in draft. Hargrave big name to watch in free agency.

Sources later confirmed to A to Z Sports that Hargrave, who is slated to hit free agency seeing as his contract with the San Francisco 49ers is about to void, has multiple suitors inducing a potential reunion with the Steelers or Philadelphia Eagles.

A two-time Pro Bowler that started his career in Pittsburgh, with Larry Ogunjobi likely on his way out and the Steelers tinkering with Keeanu Benton's position, Hargrave makes a lot of sense for a team looking to get back to dominating up front.

"We know we weren't good enough down the stretch. Fortunately, we have the resources from a cap standpoint to address and maybe in free agency, said Steelers GM Omar Khan when asked about the defensive line during Tuesday's media session at the NFL Combine. "And, there's maybe some trade candidates out there. And this draft is a really good draft for the defensive line."

Hargrave recently turned 32 and is coming off a season where he played in only three games. But if the Steelers are bargain shopping as opposed to big money spending, reuniting with a player they know better than anyone makes a lot of sense.

Only a year removed from a Pro Bowl appearance as a key cog in the 49ers Super Bowl run, we have seen defensive linemen like Cam Heyward play at elite levels well into their 30s, with Hargrave hoping to follow in his footsteps, and potentially back in the Black and Gold.
