The New England Patriots have a lot of needs heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, and with the fourth overall pick, they have a prime opportunity.
Many mock drafts currently have the Patriots selecting offensive tackle Will Campbell. However, there is one concern that many have about the LSU star.
Campbell's arm length has come into question. But, the offensive tackle isn't having any of it.
“I think I’ve shown everything I need to on tape to show I can play tackle at an elite level,” Campbell told reporters at the NFL Combine, (per Boston.com's Khari D. Thompson). “You can look at my tape. There’s not one play on there where if I get beat, you say, ‘Oh, it’s because he has shorter arms.’ Obviously, I don’t have stereotypical offensive tackle arms. I’m aware of that, and it’s something I use every week as part of my gameplan and preparation on how to attack different defenders.”
Campbell also said that he has yet to meet with the Patriots as of Saturday morning, but expects to do so.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel spoke about Campbell's arm length earlier this week, and made it clear that he's not as concerned.
“I think that arm length is good only up until the point to where you use it,” Vrabel explained. “I think the most important thing is how you use whatever length you have. If you’re a long-armed player that uses the length, then great, that’s an added plus. If you’re maybe an average-length player that doesn’t use the length, that would be difficult. But if you’re using it, then that can be positive.”
The NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, April 24.
