The National Football League Scouting Combine is on day three and that means the skill positions finally take the field. Quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers took the field for their athletic testing and there were a lot of standouts.
The Florida Gators had four players at the Scouting Combine, including Trevor Etienne of the Georgia Bulldogs, as he spent the first two seasons with the Gators.
Not only did the Gators have four players test on Saturday afternoon, they thrived in doing so.
RB Montrell Johnson Jr.
Johnson is one of the more overlooked running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft class. He played four seasons with the last three with the Gators and was very productive with 3,089 yards and 33 touchdowns. He was in a timeshare in each year of his career and he was more of the power back.
Well, Johnson showed a little extra at the Scouting Combine with some excellent testing. He ran a 4.41 second 40-yard dash to give him a Relative Athletic Score of 9.73. It was a little unexpected for Johnson, but it could catapult him up the draft board.
RB Trevor Etienne
Etienne decided to transfer out of the Gators program after the 2023 season and committed to the Georgia Bulldogs on Christmas Day. It stung for Gators fans, but hte emergence of Jadan Baugh eased their frustrations.
Etienne also had himself a banner day, running slightly slower than his former teammate in a 4.42. He also jumped 35" in the vertical and a whopping 124" in the broad jump. His size will end up knocking him down slightly when it comes to his Relative Athletic Score, but the burst and elusiveness is there, as is his long speed.
WR Chimere Dike
Dike was only with the Gators for one season, but he made an impact. They asked him to do a little big of everything this past season, especially with the mountain of injuries they had at the wide receiver position. He looked to be a core special teams player at the next level, but it might be worth revisiting.
Dike ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash in the first position group with a 4.34. With him not having a consistent role due to the circumstances, Dike didn't get a lot of opportunities to showcase that speed, but it could elevate him to a different level with a higher ceiling.
WR Elijah Badger
Badger is the latest in a pipeline of receivers that have come from Arizona State with Ricky Pearsall going in the first round last season. He only played the one season for the Gators, catching 39 passes for an insane 20.7 yards per catch and four touchdowns. He looked like a really good athlete on tape and it translated.
Badger ran a 4.43 40-yard dash while jumping 35.5" With his profile being that of an X-receiver that can attack the football in the air, having a really good athletic profile is a great addition to his draft stock.
Billy Napier’s cache wasn’t enough for his Florida Gators to secure important commitment
