Deebo Samuel will not be in a San Francisco 49ers jersey next season. 

The 49ers have traded the wide receiver to the Washington Commanders in exchange for draft compensation, according to multiple reports. San Francisco is getting a fifth round pick in exchange. 

ESPN's Adam Schefter further reports that the Commanders will take on the "remainder of Deebo Samuel’s contract and paying his full $17.55 million salary for the 2025 season."

And the Commanders didn't hesitate to post following the news. 

Samuel has spent all six years of his career with the 49ers, finishing last season with 51 receptions for 670 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns along with 42 carries for 136 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in 15 games played. 

Here's what NFL Insiders had to say about the trade: 

"Assuming he’s healthy and at full tilt in 2025, Deebo for a fifth is a steal," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote. 

"Talks between the #49ers and #Commanders really ramped up in the last 24 hours. Washington wanted to add another weapon alongside Terry McLaurin for Jayden Daniels — with GM Adam Peters having previously been in San Francisco with Deebo," Jordan Schultz reported. "The #Texans were also in the mix, but…

"A fresh start for Deebo Samuel and a YAC weapon for Jayden Daniels in DC," Field Yates said. 

"A new Washington combo:," Schefter wrote and included a photo.
