If the Kansas City Chiefs select Florida State DL Joshua Farmer in the 2025 NFL draft, they could reunite him with a former FSU teammate.
Just last week, the Chiefs met with Farmer for a formal meeting at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana. Today, the All-ACC Honorable Mention appeared on "The Up & Adams Show" with Kay Adams and mentioned Kansas City as a team that has shown some interest in him.
"You mentioned Kansas City," Adams began. "I've got to tell you, in our meetings this morning, I was not thinking Kansas City for you."
"I would love that, next to Chris Jones," Farmer responded. "They've got Derrick Nnadi, another Seminole. They've got my other teammate Fabien Lovett, there. So, it'd be a blessing to play there."
The Chiefs are going to investigate this interior defensive line class. Their current roster consists of Jones, Lovett, and Siaki Ika, with Nnadi, Mike Pennel, Tershawn Wharton, and Marlon Tuipulotu all set to become free agents. A prospect like Farmer could turn out to be a very realistic option for Kansas City.
Farmer models his game after a defensive tackle Chiefs' Brett Veach & Andy Reid brought to Philadelphia
Farmer has started 25 games over the past two seasons with Florida State, posting solid production during that span with 64 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two passes batted, and one forced fumble. At the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Farmer told reporters that he models his game after retired Eagles DT Fletcher Cox, among others.
"Presently, I like Fletcher Cox," he said. "I like Kenny Clark, I like Kobe Turner, I like my teammate Braden Fiske. . . More powerful guys, more powerful-twitchy guys. Not the biggest guys in the world."
Of course, Brett Veach & Andy Reid selected Cox in Philadelphia in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft. At 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, Farmer does have a similar body type to Cox and he views himself in the same vein as a powerful, twitched-up D-Lineman. While he didn't beat Cox's incredible 4.79s 40-yard dash (5.11s), he did beat him in the vertical jump (29 inches) and the broad jump (112 inches), showing off his explosive ability.

The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing back a standout linebacker who spent just eight days with the team in 2024.
