The Las Vegas Raiders have started their work for free agency, and while it doesn't officially kick off until March 12, the Raiders have already made agreements with a player that they will sign to a contract when that date gets here.

It's no secret the Raiders need some offensive line help going into the 2025 season. The quarterback play was atrocious last year with all three guys who played snaps, but the offensive line being bad in both pass blocking and run blocking certainly didn't help. Neither did the analytics they got that set them back.

So, they were always going to emphasize getting the offensive line up to a level that is good enough for whoever the quarterback will be in 2025 and for a run game that also desperately needs help. So it's also no surprise that their first player signed is an offensive lineman, who just so happens to have some connections to first-time general manager John Spytek

Raiders expected to sign OG Alex Cappa

Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard Alex Cappa, who also won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when John Spytek was the assistant general manager and Tom Brady was the quarterback, has signed a deal with the Raiders, who needed interior offensive line help.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a two-year deal worth $11.2 million, with around $5 million guaranteed.

Cappa, who was not very good on the Bengals last season, is set to compete for a starting job on the offensive line. He had 40 blown blocks last season, according to Sports Info Solutions, but was much better in the run game, which is also the Raiders' biggest need.

This is a deal that may make a lot of Raiders fans mad, but this also shows they are going to be very active in free agency this summer.
