Here we are Detroit Lions fans. Today is the day that free agency craziness begins. At noon ET, the legal tampering period will begin and teams can start agreeing to terms with free agents.

Before that goes down, we want to take one final shot at our predictions for the Lions in free agency. Here's the 10 things we believe will happen:

Lions sign Khalil Mack

The Lions need edge rusher help and everyone knows it, but expecting a giant splash is just not something that ever feels like it will happen for the Lions. This is still a pretty big splash.

Mack is the Lions' best chance for a premier pass rusher who won't completely eat up their chances to retain Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, Sam LaPorta and Jack Campbell while also getting big new deals for Aidan Hutchinson, Jameson Williams and Kerby Joseph. Look for something like a two-year deal for $45 million

Carlton Davis signs with the Jaguars

Personally, I've been operating under the idea that Davis isn't coming back since the season ended. Ultimately, the feeling is that he's going to get paid huge elsewhere and that the Lions could get a little cheaper and younger while still finding a good cornerback.

Kevin Zeitler returns for one more year

It's hard to see this one not happening. Things went really well for Zeitler in Detroit and he played arguably the best season of his career. The Lions want him back and he probably wants to be back too. Look for him to sign a one-year deal worth $7.75 million.

Lions sign edge Azeez Ojulari

Did I talk about depth yet? Because I can do it again. At the end of the season, the feeling was the Lions were going scorched Earth on the position and that they might fully load up with free agents and draft picks. Here they are doing it. Ojulari showed in New York that he can be the perfect rotational pass rusher who can come in and get the quarterback. Look for a two-year deal worth $10 million.

Onwuzurike gets his best deal by staying in Detroit

There's going to be a lot of interest in Onwuzurike in free agency, but there's also going to be a lot of questions and concerns. He had a really good 2024, but it's been kind of a nightmare for him otherwise. Detroit trusts him and I think that's the difference between a one year deal and a two year deal. He stays in Detroit for the two-year.

The Lions say goodbye to some fan favorites

Saying goodbye is never easy, but the Lions are going to be in a position where they're going to add in free agency and the draft and there's only so many spots on the roster. This could likely mean the Lions part ways with the guys that you love, but no longer add a huge impact.

That means Kalif Raymond, Dan Skipper, Craig Reynolds and John Cominsky could be looking for new teams in 2025.

Lions make their biggest signing with Charvarius Ward

The Lions are going to need a CB1 with Davis heading to Jacksonville and Ward is the guy to go with. 2024 was a hard year for him off the field with the loss of his daughter last October. He's stated that the trauma affected him and that he's looking to leave California.

Previous to 2024, Ward has been one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. In 2023, He had five picks and 17 pass breakups. He also allowed a reception percentage of just 54.5%. Look for Ward to get a two-year deal worth $29 million.

Darius Slay returns

I'll shout it from a mountain top right next to Brad Holmes if I have to, depth!! The Lions want it and Slay wants to play in Detroit. This makes too much sense to ignore. He's an instant upgrade off the bench and a group with him, Ward, Arnold, Robertson, and Rakestraw is dangerous.

The Lions then sign Darius Slayton and everyone gets confused

A lot of attention is going to be paid to the Lions defense, but they need help on offense too. Tim Patrick was great in his role last year and there's always a chance that he's back. The more likely scenario is that the Lions sign Slayton, a guy they got to spend some time with last summer, and then draft another guy in April.

Lions sign Trey Lance

I know that this sounds crazy to some, but the Lions have already shown interest in Lance in the recent past. Lance has a huge support system in Detroit with his former NDSU OC Tyler Roehl, John Morton, and three former NFL quarterbacks. This is a group that could definitely help him get on track.
