A former Tennessee Vols assistant coach from the Jeremy Pruitt era reportedly has a new job in the NFL.
Former Vols tight ends coach Brian Niedermeyer, a one-time fan favorite who was a big part of the recruiting scandal that ended the Pruitt era on Rocky Top just over four years ago, is reportedly being hired by the Denver Broncos to serve on the defensive staff.
According to The Denver Post, Niedermeyer is set to serve in a "quality control type role" for the Broncos.
Niedermeyer served as Tennessee's tight ends coach from 2018 to 2020. He was set to move to inside linebackers coach in 2021, but he was fired by Tennessee as a result of the recruiting scandal that became public during the final weekend of the 2020 regular season.
The Alaska native was promoted to head coach at Tuscaloosa County High School this past December.
Niedermeyer was a popular assistant at Tennessee, due to his stellar recruiting efforts (which turned out to be shady recruiting efforts), before news of the recruiting scandal broke.
The former Tennessee assistant, however, has become a villain in the eyes of Vols fans in the years since his departure from UT.
In 2022, Niedermeyer appeared to throw shade at Tennessee when he seemingly took joy in the UT baseball program's loss to Notre Dame in the Super Regional, immediately tweeting "you just hate to see it".

Niedermeyer also appeared to throw some shade at the Vols after Tennessee lost the recruiting battle for wide receiver Carnell Tate to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Maybe Vols legend Peyton Manning, who still lives in Denver and is revered by Broncos fans, will have a thing or two to say to the disgraced former Tennessee assistant about the shade he's thrown at UT over the years.
