The Las Vegas Raiders dealt with an abnormal amount of injuries last season. It seemed like every game they played, a new player was hurt, and one that was crucial to their game plans on game days. That didn't exclude Maxx Crosby.
Last season was the first season he ever missed a game. In his six years, he has missed five total games, and they were all last year, when he was dealing with an injury that was so bad he couldn't play through it, and even if he could have, they wouldn't have let him play even if he could have, given they were out of the race for the postseason around the same time.
He then underwent season-ending ankle surgery. And, for some reason, people think he has fallen off a bit, or that playing every single snap is catching up to him. That's not necessarily true. And, if it was, the Raiders wouldn't have just made him the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
They believe in him, and luckily, there's an update on his status as we get deeper into the 2025 offseason.
"I'm getting close," Crosby said at his press conference on Wednesday when asked about his recovery. "We're getting there. Pete [Carroll] was in there working on my ankle this morning. I'm just playing. No, but we're getting close. We're, I would say, about a month or whatever. Like I said, same mentality, day by day. But yeah, we're in a great place, running on the treadmill, doing a lot of different things now, moving extremely well. So yeah, we'll be flying in no time."
This is just the news that fans needed to hear, especially after the contract has been signed, when there are a few fans here and there that have doubted Crosby and his body moving forward. So, hopefully Crosby is ready to go by training camp.
And, it certainly sounds like he will be. The Raiders will need him healthy for 2025 if they plan on competing in the AFC West against the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos.
