When Grady Jarrett shockingly hit the open market earlier this week following his release from the Atlanta Falcons, it sent 31 other teams into a frenzy.

In the end, it was the Chicago Bears who pounced on the opportunity to add the veteran leader into the growing locker room to help establish the new culture under head coach Ben Johnson.

The decision, and mainly price tag, brought out some concerns given his age, but it's clear to see why the Bears aggressively pursued this guy after hearing from him for the first time at Halas Hall on Wednesday.

Landing in Chicago worked out best for all parties involved. Jarrett still has that hunger to chase a championship but also realizes his role in helping bring the younger players under his wing, showing them what it means to be a true professional.

In turn, the Bears add a player with a decade of high-level experience onto the defensive line to further bolster the trenches.

"I was fortunate enough to fall in a situation where the love was mutual," Jarrett said while talking to the media on Wednesday. "Being able to just start here and have a fresh start is something I'm super super excited about… I'm so happy to be here."

As a vet in this league, Jarrett is familiar with the greatness that used to come from being a Chicago Bear between the "dominate defense, legendary players, and Hall of Famers."

"The pride that I have in this place, I didn't really know it lived in me until I walked into the building," Jarrett added. "I'm just so fired up."

Part of that pride and history comes from the rich rivalry against the Green Bay Packers. A rivalry that was restored in Week 18 when the Bears marched into Lambeau Field and came away with a win against the Packers for the first time in years.

Jarrett already has plenty of experience facing off against the Packers throughout his career and even has some standing beef with Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

Back in 2023 when the Jarrett faced the Packers while with the Falcons, Jarrett was mic'd up when he and Love got into a little shouting match in which Jarrett wanted to put the young quarterback back in his place after Love starting talking some smack following a big play.

Thanks to Herb Howard, we got to hear more about it from Jarrett's perspective during his first press conference with the team.

"When you're playing ball, and you cross the lines, you gotta be able to go in that dark place," Jarrett explained. "Sometimes what happens in that dark place, it gets a little crazy. Just being a competitor… You gotta have that dog in you…

Obviously, Jordan Love is a good quarterback. So, my thing is, you already can't hit the quarterback… then to walk away from me talking mess, I mean what are we doing. But I'm excited to go against him two times a year now."

The addition of Jarrett and his existing beef with the Packers starting quarterback is only going to add even more fire to these future matchups.

The Bears aren't playing any games anymore and the all of the new additions are ready to change all of the narratives surrounding the Chicago Bears.
