Before Quandre Diggs’ 2024 season ended after eight games due to lisfranc injury, he was having a very strong season for the Tennessee Titans. The Pro Bowl safety ended that season with 42 total tackles. Unfortunately, Diggs was just on a one-year deal, and now he has to try and find a new home via free agency.
Diggs has put together a tremendous ten-year career with the Titans, Detroit Lions, and Seattle Seahawks. He made the transition to safety after beginning his career at cornerback coming out of Texas. During his time with Seattle, Diggs was selected to three Pro Bowls. He has managed to collect 622 total tackles, 24 interceptions, 56 pass breakups, 15 tackles for loss, and five forced fumbles during his ten seasons.
Despite Diggs being right around 5-9, he has continued to defy the odds. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft class because of that lack of size. That slot was despite a fantastic career with the Longhorns. Diggs managed to collect 218 total tackles, 11 interceptions, 27 pass breakups, 14 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks.
If Diggs wasn’t coming off that injury, there’s a good chance he would have a very solid market. Diggs is set to get back to full health this offseason, but foot injuries can get tricky. That’s especially true considering he is already 32 years old.
It also isn’t overly surprising that the process has played out this way for several reasons. If you are a prospective team, you are going to want to understand the timeline and even have him work through a physical. With his age, teams will want to do some deeper work before making an investment.
If you are Diggs and his camp, taking things slow makes a ton of sense. He doesn’t have a ton of seasons left, so you want to be selective for landing spots. Diggs will end up gaining interest, but there’s a good chance it won’t be a quick decision even this deep into free agency.
