Mystery is essential for every NFL team during draft season. With mystery comes leverage. With leverage comes franchise-altering decisions, especially for a team picking at No. 2 overall.

For a while, there was no bigger mystery in the 2025 NFL Draft than the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland is sitting with the second overall pick and has so many viable paths to go down.

The Browns could take a quarterback and end the Deshaun Watson era for good. There are also some rumors that the Browns could pursue a veteran like Kirk Cousins via trade and draft the best player available at No. 2. After all, pairing Abdul Carter with Myles Garrett on the defensive front is tempting. So is acquiring the unique talents of Travis Hunter, who the Browns view as a wide receiver first and foremost .

Trying to predict what the Browns are going to do used to be like blindly throwing a dart at a dart board and hoping for a bull’s-eye…but not anymore. After signing a massive four-year extension with an average salary of $40 million per year and $123 million guaranteed, superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett all but telegraphed what Cleveland was going to do with the second overall pick.

"After conversations, I do have an idea [of who the quarterback is going to be]," Garrett said in an interview with Andrew Siciliano. "I like it enough to be here smiling in front of you. I think we have a good chance of that happening and making the most out of it."

The Browns obviously gave Garrett 123,000,000 guaranteed reasons to stay in Cleveland. The money was always going to be the biggest driving factor, but I think it’s possible they gave him 123,000,001 reasons to buy in on being a Brown with that extra one being a hint at what's coming to the roster.

A player like Garrett doesn’t just re-sign with the Browns if he doesn’t have an idea about what the future of the organization is going to look like. As he confirmed in his interview with Siciliano, Garrett and the Browns talked about what the quarterback position would be like in 2025 before he agreed to stay with the team. Add in Garrett liking the direction the Browns are going in and it’s not super hard to read between the lines…The Browns are a lock to take one of Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, likely Sanders with Ward landing in Tennessee at number one.

Everything about that interview read like a guy who is pumped about the direction of the team because a young promising quarterback is about to land in Cleveland.

Or maybe that’s what the Browns want us to think…There’s a non-zero chance that Cleveland is posing as "locked in on a QB" and posting those clips to the team's social media accounts to unload the pick to a team (Giants) that panics and overpays.

Either way, I have no choice now but to assume the Browns are going to take a QB. Garrett’s interview said it all. For better or worse, there’s no longer a huge mystery surrounding Cleveland at the top of the draft.
