Looking around the college football landscape last season, you wouldn’t have found a better running back tandem than the one in Columbus, Ohio.
Ohio State was able to return TreVeyon Henderson for a fourth season and they made a big splash in the transfer portal with Quinshon Judkins.
Two starting-level running backs showed great unselfishness by seeing a cut in carries and they both still ended with over 1,000 yards rushing. Since he arrived in Columbus, Judkins was never shy about taking small shots at the Rebels. Judkins’ latest jab toward Ole Miss happens to be to their men’s basketball team.
In his NCAA Tournament March Madness bracket, Judkins has Ole Miss being upset in the very first round. Judkins picked No. 11 San Diego State to pull the upset over No. 6 Ole Miss.
Ole Miss finished their regular season 22-11 and eighth place in the Southeastern Conference. On the other side, San Diego State went 21-9 and finished fifth in the Mountian West. Just last year the Aztecs reached the National Championship just two seasons ago and they made it to the regional semifinal last season.
Judkins ran for 2,725 yards in two seasons with Ole Miss. As a true freshman, Judkins was an All-American with 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns. He ran for 1,158 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2023, then put up 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Buckeyes in 2024.
The combination of Henderson and Judkins was a crucial part of the success that Ohio State had in 2024. That is the great part about the transfer portal, you can find impact players and they can make a difference. Sometimes you can get burned on the other side, like Ole Miss did by having to replace Judkins.
Judkins with what is one last friendly jab at the Rebels, who has a one-and-done in March Madness.
