Because of all of the injuries that they dealt with last season, the Las Vegas Raiders had to plan for so many players, whether they were depth or even practice squad guys. That means that guys with no experience really got to show what they're made of.

The Raiders had a lot of guys get thrown into the fire, and man, some of them really responded well. You have guys like then-rookie cornerbacks Decamerion Richardson and M.J. Devonshire making plays all year, with Richardson maybe locking up his spot as the nickel guy. Then you have guys like K'Lavon Chaisson, who really resurrected his career with the Raiders.

That may be one of the good things about being a bad team, if there was any bad thing — getting to see young guys or guys who just need a shot, at work. One of the guys who also really got to live through that a bit was Janarius Robinson. When Tyree Wilson was hurt with Malcolm Koonce out, and not having Chaisson play yet — Robinson stepped up.

Now, he's headed to a different team.

Former Raiders DE Janarius Robinson signs with Chiefs

Janarius Robinson is now a defensive end for the Chiefs, after he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and has played for other teams as well. Injuries hurt his early career—he missed his rookie year with a leg injury and later an ankle injury with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022 after bouncing between practice squads and active rosters.

He joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, starting on their practice squad. Robinson played his first NFL game that November against the Kansas City Chiefs. In two seasons with the Raiders, he played 16 games, getting 1.5 sacks, 13 tackles, and a pass deflection.

Off the field, he got in trouble in February 2024 with a DUI arrest in Las Vegas, leading to a three-game NFL suspension in December 2024.

Now, Robinson has signed with the enemy, or the Raiders' biggest rival, as he has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, giving him a new shot on a team that could use the depth. He’s got the size (6-foot-5, 260 pounds) and a long wingspan (86 inches), but his stats show he hasn’t fully broken out yet, and he may never do that, but teams certainly see some potential in him.

Maybe with the Chiefs, he will catch on to things quicker and have a shot at getting his career where he'd like it to be.
