If you were somehow still unsure about Cam Ward being the Tennessee Titans’ selection with the first overall pick, perhaps their latest decision will be what convinces you.

Colorado held their Pro Day on Friday, showcasing top prospects QB Shedeur Sanders and WR/CB Travis Hunter before the draft later this month. It was previously reported that the Titans contingent traveling for the event would be missing a couple key dignitaries, namely Head Coach Brian Callahan and President of Football Operations Chad Brinker.

When Friday finally rolled around, however, some changes had been made. More than one important Titans official who hadn’t planned on attending chose to show up, one of which being Chad Brinker.

To the vast majority of folks, they weren’t fooling anyone. Yes, basically everybody but Callahan ended up making the trip to Boulder. Even the media team, who was infamously in attendance at Cam Ward’s Miami Pro Day, made the trek. But as I laid out in no uncertain terms earlier last week, the Titans are drafting Cam Ward. That’s been the case for some time now.

But for any remaining doubters, Friday’s Pro Day smoke screen was quickly cleared away by the announcement Saturday that the Titans and the Sanders camp had mutually agreed to cancel their private workout.

It was scheduled for this week shortly after the Pro Day. Every important member of the team was going to be in attendance, Callahan included. But the two sides met on Friday and decided there was no point in wasting everybody’s time.

Why did Titans brass decide to give up the ghost on their Cam Ward infatuation one day after seemingly pulling out additional stops to make their Colorado Pro Day interest stronger? I can’t answer that question. Perhaps the plan going into Friday was to cancel the workout, and they wanted as many people as possible to get at least the one touch point under their belts since they wouldn’t be doing two. Even then, it feels like nothing more than a formality.

Sanders and Hunter are exciting prospects who will be drafted highly. But not as highly as the Titans are taking Cam Ward.
