Ohio State will wrap up spring ball on Saturday, and the spring game will be played at Ohio Stadium in front of tens of thousands of fans.

It will be a great opportunity for some of the younger players to get some run once the starters exit the field after some brief run. A lot of eyes will be on the quarterback battle, and rightfully so, as the Buckeyes are once again set to have a new starter in 2025.

When it comes to the freshmen on campus who have stood out, CB Devin Sanchez is the name you hear the most about. However, it was another freshman who lost his black stripe first and is standing out just as much.

"If he can keep playing like that, he's gonna find himself playing a lot of football this year,” head coach Ryan Day said of freshman WR Quincy Porter on Monday.

Porter was a top-five wideout in the class of 2025 and a five-star talent from New Jersey. The 6-foot-3 wideout already has a college-ready frame and has looked the part for the Buckeyes this spring. A year after having Jeremiah Smith steal the show as a freshman, Brian Hartline brought in another very talented newcomer who has a chance to be special down the road.

"He was productive [and] he made a lot of contested catches. We have seen a lot of that leading up to this point. We don't like to get those black stripes off too early for the freshmen, but he earned it, especially in a competitive live day like that, to make some of those catches,” Day said of Porter.

Smith and Carnell Tate are the top two wideouts in the room and Brandon Inniss is set to take over a role in the slot. Porter could be competing with former five-star recruit Mylan Graham to be that fourth guy for the Buckeyes. The wide receiver depth is a strength for the Buckeyes and that is important with the expanded season.

It is only the spring right now and a lot can change between this time and fall camp. But it sure looks like Porter is going to play a role for the Buckeyes this fall if early returns mean anything.
