The 2025 NFL Draft is a little over two weeks away, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of questions to answer.

Who will be their starting quarterback? Do they draft their George Pickens replacement? Will they address the glaring hole on their defensive line?

All of these questions could be answered with a few different signings and selections, though Steelers GM Omar Khan isn't tipping his hand to anyone…

Steelers open to drafting best player available in 2025 NFL Draft

“Our goal is always to put ourselves in a position where we don’t have to take a guy at a specific position," Khan recently told the media. "And I feel like we’ve added some key pieces to what we’re trying to accomplish. And this draft is, there’s some really good players in this draft that can help us at various positions. And we’ve been working hard at trying to make sure we set our board right, and there’s more work to come. This is the next three or four weeks are going to be really important, but we’re right in the middle of it and feel good about it."

When you are open to drafting the best player available rather than sticking to any one position, it opens up an entire realm of possibilities. Say Aaron Rodgers is signed, but Shedeur Sanders falls on draft night.

Well, depending on where the Steelers have him ranked on their board in relation to a position of need like DT or WR, they may take Shedeur head up, or even trade up for him should they receive intel that their favorite defensive lineman or WR won't make it to them.

In fact, that exact scenario just happened in the latest mock draft from Destn Adams of A to Z Sports NFL Draft

TRADE: Cowboys send pick 12 to the Steelers for picks 21, 83 (third) and a 2026 second

12. Pittsburgh Steelers: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

Another trade comes together, and it's a big one with the Steelers making sure they have their future QB on their roster, no matter if Aaron Rodgers ever chooses to sign on the dotted line or not. If Shedeur Sanders does begin to fall like some in the league believe he will, I think the Steelers are a team to watch that could look to get aggressive and land one of the top QBs in the class.

So we'll see which way the cookie crumbles come April 24th, but right now, all options and all positions are a possibility for the Steelers as we inch ever closer to the NFL Draft.
