The New York Giants needed a quarterback up until Tuesday night. And many thought they would address that in the 2025 NFL Draft with the third overall pick.

It's no secret that the Tennessee Titans are almost definitely going to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward, and the Cleveland Browns are leaning towards taking Penn State edge Abdul Carter. That would have left Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders for the New York Giants, allowing the Patriots to then take Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter.

However, the Giants taking Sanders is now a big question after they signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal worth $21m with $10.5m guaranteed. They also recently signed Jameis Winston to serve as the backup and already had Tommy DeVito on the roster.

So, do they really need a fourth quarterback?

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, that answer might be yes.

"If the right quarterback is there at No. 3 or they can trade up, they would not hesitate and secure a long-term future of this franchise," Schefter said on NFL Live on Wednesday. "But it would have to be the right quarterback. And I don't know if that's Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders."

For the Patriots sake, they better hope that the right quarterback is Sanders so they can potential land a generational player in Hunter. If not, New England could turn their attention towards selecting a left tackle.

So basically, it seems the Patriots draft fate depends on which direction the Giants are leaning as April 24 gets closer.
