This week, a Kansas City Chiefs coach got a closer look at a talented wide receiver prospect in the 2025 NFL draft.

As Tony Pauline first reported, the Chiefs' wide receivers coach was in Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Nebraska Pro Day. Connor Embree enters his third year as Kansas City's wide receivers coach in 2025. After marked success coaching rookies Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy in consecutive years, the team might aim to give him another young receiver to mold via the 2025 NFL draft.

This wasn't a situation like Chiefs' DL coach Joe Cullen running drills for the LSU Pro Day last year. Embree kept a low profile as prospects went through their drills, with Nebraska wide receiver Isaiah Neyor being the lone receiver prospect to participate for the Cornhuskers.

Chiefs eyeing uber-athlete Isaiah Neyor in 2025 NFL draft?

Weighing in at 6-foot-4 and 218 pounds, Nebraska WR Isaiah Neyor posted a 38-inch vertical jump and a 133-inch broad jump at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He ran a 4.41s 40-yard dash, all while battling cramps. It was an awe-inspiring performance for an athlete his size, earning him a 98th percentile A to Z Sports Athletic Composite score.

Neyor only participated in on-field position drills and the short shuttle during his pro day, but no official updates were provided on his short shuttle time. The athleticism is only part of the story with Neyor, who spent three seasons at Wyoming before transferring to Texas in 2023 and Nebraska in 2024. His best season came in 2021, when he appeared in 13 games with Wyoming and caught 44 passes for 878 yards and 12 touchdowns. Last season, he appeared in 12 games with Nebraska and caught 34 receptions for 455 yards and five touchdowns.

The athleticism and production don't quite match. Despite his elite athleticism, Neyor is often projected as a Day 3 pick. While they don't often rely on coaches in this capacity, it makes sense for the Chiefs to send a coach to try to understand this prospect because his ceiling is very high, given his athletic ability. The 23-year-old is also a Texas native, so he'd fit in with a group featuring Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.
