It was a coup for the Oklahoma Sooners to secure the commitment of five-star defensive tackle David Stone as part of their 2024 recruiting class. Stone was one of their highest recruits ever and promised to be one of the most disruptive players for their defense in the near future.

While he didn't earn much playing time in Oklahoma's deepest unit as a true freshman last season, Stone popped off the film every time he did step onto the field.

In just 51 snaps as a pass rusher, Stone had seven pressures, a sack, and a 15% pass rush win rate. His athleticism leapt off the field and created havoc that didn't show up in the box score.

Now in year two with the Sooners, Stone is ready to build off of a quietly dominant 2024 season and earn more of a role this season.

In a video released by the Oklahoma Sooners on YouTube, Stone revealed he's up 10 pounds and is moving "better than I ever have". According to Oklahoma's roster page, Stone is up to 313 pounds, but you'd never be able to guess that based on his body and explosiveness.

The Sooners' defensive tackle room is stacked with talent, with Stone joining a group already featuring Gracen Halton, Damonic Williams, and Jayden Jackson. All four contributed to Oklahoma being an elite team against the run last season, while Halton finished second on the team in sacks.

If Stone has taken that next step as a player and is ready to contribute more as a sophomore, the Sooners being to rotate all four of those players up front is, quite frankly, unfair. It's hard to not be excited about the potential and future of that room heading into the 2025 season.
