Raiders have already met with a player that they would be dumb to pass up on if he does fall to the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft
The Las Vegas Raiders have not been able to find a wide receiver in free agency yet, despite having plenty of opportunities and money to do so. Of course, there is still time, but what's left on the market isn't really worth it. And, this leads many to believe they will certainly target a wide […]
The Las Vegas Raiders have not been able to find a wide receiver in free agency yet, despite having plenty of opportunities and money to do so. Of course, there is still time, but what's left on the market isn't really worth it.
And, this leads many to believe they will certainly target a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, where that is in the draft is a totally different story. They could do it early, or they could do it late — no one really knows where they stand. And that's largely because we have never seen these two, Pete Carroll and John Spytek, draft together. We don't know how their game plan will work together.
Sure, we know the types of players they both like and have individually drafted, whether it was by the Seattle Seahawks or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, when the two minds come together, it's very hard to guess what they will do, especially at pick No. 6.
The Raiders could very well take one in the second round, though, especially if one of the late first-rounders falls to them at pick No. 37. Now, I'm not saying this will happen, because the chances of it happening aren't very high. However, it's the draft, and you never really know what's going to happen.
But, if Emeka Egbuka falls to them, I'm not sure there is a world where they pass on him.
Raiders have met with WR Emeka Egbuka, and the connections are there
The Raiders need a wide receiver, but they also need a certain type of wide receiver. They don't really need the small, speedy guy who is known for the deep ball. They kind of have that in Tre Tucker already. Sure, another one wouldn't hurt, but why not get a different variety of receiver. They don't really need a big possession catch guy; they have that in Brock Bowers and kind of Jakobi Meyers, who isn't huge, but he had a zero drop percentage last year.
They need a playmaker and a guy who can just get open and work the middle of the field, sprinkled in with some deep ball action. They need an elite route runner, but a guy who can take some pressure off of Bowers and Meyers. That guy could be Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Egbuka is currently predicted to go late in the first round, but as early as 20 to the Denver Broncos. He could fall, and if he is available, I cannot see the Raiders passing on him, especially considering the connection with new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, who was his offensive coordinator last year with the Ohio State Buckeyes when they won the National Championship with the best offense in the country.
And, the Raiders have already met with Egbuka. If he's there at 37, there's no way they pass on him.

The Raiders need to get this right regardless.
