The Pittsburgh Steelers need Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron Rodgers needs the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Two sides that have very few options left as the QB dominoes have fallen, many have wondered what the hold up is.

Well, Rich Eisen mentioned a contract number that would be sure to create hesitation among the Steelers brass…

Rich Eisen thinks Aaron Rodgers could ask for 2 years, $70m

“I think Aaron Rodgers is gonna start with a four. North of $40 million. How about this? Two years, $70 million, with incentives that can pop it up more," said Eisen on his show.

Eisen may title himself a broadcaster, but he is one of the more plugged in people in NFL media. He's not just throwing numbers at the wall to see what sticks.

The problem is, his colleague at NFL Network recently said that money is not an issue between Rodgers and the Steelers, who had a very good meeting nearly two weeks ago…

"Aaron basically invited himself on a visit late last week, said NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. "He was in the building for several hours, he watched tape with the coaches. This deal has been in place contract-wise for weeks. They’ve discussed parameters. This is not going to be a financial issue at all for Aaron Rodgers…

"…If it gets done it’s going to be a 1-year deal. This was a get-to-know-you meeting, everything there sounds positive. I can tell you Aaron has kept a dialogue with various organization members, coaches, other players. There’s been communication like this is something he’s really going to do and at this point right now, sitting here in late March the Pittsburgh Steelers are the only opportunity that Aaron has.”

So maybe the Steelers are willing to pay that price, but Eisen hints that there is want for a two-year deal from Rodgers camp. Beyond that, there is a leverage aspect to consider. Sure, what Pelissero said about the Steelers being the only opportunity Aaron has may be true, but Rodgers is the only real option the Steelers have at this point.

Unless of course, they are truly considering starting Mason Rudolph or a rookie. So, both sides need each other, and as many negotiations go, one will have to give in and make a compromise.
